  • Use long-tail phrases that match how buyers search
  • Include alternate terms (chopping board, cheese board)
  • Do not repeat words already in your title (Etsy already indexes those)
  • Category and Attributes

    Select the most specific category available. "Home & Living > Kitchen & Dining > Cutting Boards" outperforms "Home & Living" alone. Fill in every attribute Etsy offers for your category. Color, material, occasion, and style attributes help Etsy match you with filtered searches.

    Photos That Improve SEO Indirectly

    Photos do not directly affect search ranking, but they dramatically affect click-through rate, which does. Your first photo must be scroll-stopping. Use natural lighting, clean backgrounds, and show the product in context. High click-through rate tells Etsy your listing is relevant, which boosts your ranking.

    Pricing and Free Shipping

    Etsy prioritizes listings with free shipping in US search results. Build shipping cost into your product price if possible. A $34.99 item with free shipping outranks a $29.99 item with $5 shipping in most cases.

    Reviews and Conversion Rate

    Every positive review improves your listing quality score. Encourage reviews by delivering exceptional products and including a thank-you card with a gentle review reminder. Fast shipping and good communication drive the reviews that drive the rankings.
